According to experts, salt therapy goes back to the 19th century when, in 1843, a Polish health official observed that miners at the Wieliczka salt mine in Poland did not suffer from the same kinds of respiratory illnesses that were common in the general population.” said SRT India founder Anju Chandna.Considering the rising incidence of respiratory problems in the national capital due to pollution and winter smog, health experts have recommended new “salt room therapy” (SRT) for patients. Salty air absorbs edema from the mucosal lining of the airways caused due to inflammation..

The concept may sound new to many, but the fact is it is already being successfully used in many countries to treat people with respiratory ailments and also some skin conditions,” he added.“Salt room therapy helps to normalise the passage of air through the bronchial tubes, leading to widening of airway passages, restoring the normal transport of mucus and unclogging blockages in the bronchi, thereby helping control asthmatic attacks,” added Dr Varsha. We are hopeful that our initiative will offer them an effective drug-free treatment option to fight the rising pollution all around us.Dr Animesh Ray, consultant pulmonologist, Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, said, “During winter, when respiratory problem aggravates due to smog, salt room therapy, which is a natural form of treatment, can provide symptomatic relief to patients suffering from respiratory problems.Explaining the link between salt rooms and asthma, Dr Varsha, consulting doctor at SRT India, said the basic science behind salt therapy is simple — salt helps reduce inflammation that causes spasms of the bronchus.”Explaining the therapy   in medical terms, Dr Ray said salt therapy, or halotherapy, is the inhalation of extr-emely small (micronised) dry salt particles within a chamber that mimics a salt cave environment

Union- and student-backed demonstrations against the reforms began nearly four months ago, with some protests descending into violence..The labour bill now continues on its bicameral shuttle. In the streets meanwhile, protesters staged their 12th show of opposition to the controversial package, seen as too pro-business and a threat to cherished workers’ rights.“This country is too used to mass unemployment,” Mr Valls told Parliament as many members booed and several walked out of the chamber. It was the second time the embattled government used the so-called 49-3 provision for this package of reforms, as it could not count on the votes of legislators on the Socialist Party’s left flank.2 million.MPs have 24 hours to decide whether to call a vote of no confidence in Mr Valls’ government, which the right-wing Opposition has already ruled out.A Paris protest drew up to 7,500 people according to the police and 45,000 according to the hardline CGT union. Unemployment in France stands at a stubborn 10 per cent overall, but for young people the figure is closer to 25 per cent. However the numbers were down from previous protests. On Tuesday the head of the Republicans’ parliamentary group, Christian Jacob, said the centre-right party would not call such a vote this time around. He said a “coalition of immobility” had stymied the reforms, which aim at reducing unemployment by freeing up the job market — notably by making it easier for employers to hire and fire staff.

It returns to the Senate before its definitive adoption by the lower house on July 22 — when Mr Valls is expected to again resort to the 49-3 manoeuvre for the final step.It used the same measure air brake valveto force a package of economic reforms through Parliament in 2015, also to prevent the rebel left flank of the party from sinking it. Demonstrations peaked on March 31 at 390,000 people across the country, according to official figures, while the unions claim the figure was 1.Union- and student-backed demonstrations against the reforms began in early March.French Socialist Prime Minister Manuel Valls on Tuesday bypassed Parliament   to force through labour reforms that have sparked four months of strikes and street protests. The government survived a vote of no-confidence by a comfortable margin over its use of the 49-3 clause in May

Disqualification  Truck Tire Screws of the rebel MLAs, which is being considered almost a certainty in political circles here, will deprive them of the right to vote against Harish Rawat government which is slated to go for a floor test tomorrow in the state assembly. They had met him yesterday seeking personal hearing in the matter, a request turned down by the Speaker. Dehradun: Lashing out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the ongoing crisis in Uttarakhand, the state Chief Minister Harish Rawat Sunday claimed that the party was threatening the Congress government in the state with President’s Rule.BJP, on the other hand, has 28 MLAs of its own and nine of Congress who if disqualified will be of no use to it at the time of voting in the state assembly..About half-a-dozen lawyers met Kunjwal in his chamber in the state Assembly seeking personal hearing and more evidence in support of the charges levelled against the MLAs in the disqualification notice served to them by the Speaker just a day after trouble erupted in the state assembly on March 18. Rawat is left with 27 Congress MLAs after nine revolted against him.  "They (BJP) have attacked democracy with money and muscle power," he said and appealed to the "right-thinking" people to condemn attempts by BJP to "murder democracy".BJP sources said state BJP MLAs, who were travelling to various places like Delhi, Gurgaon and Jaipur, are expected to reach Dehradun by tonight.
